Whereas, Srila Prabhupad is the inspiration behind padayatra. There exists
\nsubstantial communication, instructions and vision statements that Srila
\nPrabhupad made in respect of Padayatra. One being – \u201c We can introduce
\nmillions of such carts all over the world\u201d. Padayatra was very important to
\nSrila Prabhupada, and close to his heart. He envisioned padayatra\u2019s
\ncontributing role to ISKCON\u2019s future everywhere, at all times.<\/p>\n
Whereas Bullock cart sankirtana\/Padayatra was an imperative part of Srila
\nPrabhupada\u2019s strategy for spreading Krishna consciousness in India<\/p>\n
Whereas, the GBC statement of 1991 states:\u201cTo bing congregational chanting
\nof the holy name to every town and village of the world through organised
\nPadayatra festivals\u201d<\/p>\n
Whereas,\u00a0 whenever and wherever Padayatras are organised (in and outside of
\nIndia) it is proving to be an effective, self sufficient and engaging
\nactivity, especially\u00a0 as it promotes huge distribution of Srila Prabhupad\u2019s
\nbooks in the remotest parts of India.<\/p>\n
Therefore, it is resolved that all divisional councils, individual\u2019s temples
\nand farm communities with goshalas in India are encouraged to include
\nPadayatras (walking festivals) as one of their key outreach programs.<\/p>\n
Temples are recommended to organise Padayatras, at least as an annual
\nevent.\u00a0 \u00a0If this is not possible, then they could elect to organise padayatras as
\nfrequently as is possible with manageable and varied distance and duration.<\/p>\n
