Out on sankirtan

By Acarya Dasa

On the 29th of January 2016, padayatra reached a village called Avadi.  Previously there was no preaching going on here. When padayatra was here last we stayed for two days doing sankirtana.  Many of the villagers came and joined us for gaura arati, after which we gave small classes describing the importance of the holy names and distributed lots of books. The villagers were happy to take darsana of Nitai Gaurasundar, and even more so when we told them that these deities were non-different from Krishna and Balaram themselves. A few of them enjoyed the deity worship process, chanting and sankirtana –this was how preaching had started in this village and now by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada an ISKCON Centre has been established here.

Now once again when we reached Avadi the devotees here  received us and their Lordships with much joy. The matajis worshipped Nitai Gaurasundar and we did house programs at the devotees’ homes.  We also went on sankirtana and book distribution together with the centre devotees. Thus by the mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu preaching is going on in nagar and gram, that is, in city and village.
